Information we collect

We collect only what's necessary for the educational experience:

• Student name (for a personalized experience)
• Grade level (for age-appropriate content)
• Learning interests (for content personalization)
• Learning progress and quiz scores
• Parent / guardian email (for consent verification)

We do NOT collect social security numbers, precise geolocation, photographs, or financial information from students.

How we use data

Student data is used exclusively for educational purposes:

• Personalizing lessons based on grade and interests
• Tracking learning progress and achievements
• Generating age-appropriate AI content
• Providing educator oversight and reporting

We NEVER sell student data or use it for advertising.

AI & data security

When generating personalized content with AI:

• Only grade level and interests are sent to AI services
• Student names and emails are NEVER sent externally
• All AI prompts are sanitized for PII before processing
• Generated content is cached locally for efficiency

We use AI services under strict data-handling policies that prohibit training on user data.

Parental consent (COPPA)

For students under 13, we require verifiable parental consent:

• Email verification with a secure token
• Consent can be revoked at any time
• Parents can review and delete their child's data
• No data collection before consent is verified

Data access & export

You have the right to access your child's data:

• Export all data in JSON format
• Review learning progress and achievements
• See what information is stored
• Download anytime from account settings

Data deletion rights

You can request complete data deletion:

• All student data permanently removed
• Progress, achievements, and preferences deleted
• Deletion completed within 30 days
• Confirmation email sent upon completion

Data retention

We retain student data only as long as needed:

• Active accounts: data retained for service
• Inactive accounts: auto-deleted after 2 years
• Deleted accounts: purged within 30 days
• Audit logs: retained for 1 year for compliance

School compliance

For school deployments, we support:

• FERPA compliance for educational records
• CIPA-compliant content filtering
• District data privacy agreements (DPA)
• Single sign-on (SSO) integration
• Educator oversight and admin controls
